Popular streamer Ludwig Ahgren has officially returned to Twitch after completing his three-year contract with YouTube, which ended in November 2024. In a highly anticipated announcement on December 8, Ludwig revealed his comeback to the Amazon-owned platform, kicking things off with a 100+ hour League of Legends marathon titled “League Week.”

Ludwig left Twitch at the peak of his popularity in November 2021 to sign an exclusive deal with YouTube. During his YouTube tenure, he consistently ranked among the platform’s top creators, most recently placing as the 10th most-watched streamer for November 2024 with 1.73 million hours of content watched. Despite his success, Ludwig has been candid about his future streaming plans, deliberating between staying on YouTube, returning to Twitch, or exploring multi-streaming options.

His return to Twitch, however, appears to be exclusive for now. Announcing the move on X (formerly Twitter), Ludwig posted: “After 3 years, I’m back on Twitch. League Week starts in one hour,” accompanied by a cinematic trailer hyping up his marathon event.

A Record-Breaking Legacy

Before his YouTube stint, Ludwig was a dominant force on Twitch, even holding the record for the highest number of concurrent subscribers during his iconic Subathon in 2021. Although his record has since been shattered by creators like Kai Cenat, who amassed over 700,000 subscribers during his Mafiathon 2 event, Ludwig’s influence on Twitch remains undeniable.

The League of Legends Marathon

Ludwig’s week-long League of Legends marathon is set to run for over 100 hours, making it one of his most ambitious streaming projects yet. Many fans speculated whether the event would be multi-streamed on YouTube, but Ludwig clarified that it would be a Twitch-exclusive broadcast. He noted that such a lengthy stream is particularly challenging, even for an experienced creator.

Ludwig isn’t the only high-profile YouTube streamer to make a return to Twitch recently. Earlier this month, Myth also rejoined Twitch after completing his contract with YouTube. With creators like Ludwig and Myth returning, Twitch is witnessing a resurgence of some of its most popular streamers.

Ludwig’s comeback marks an exciting chapter for his fans and signals a potential shift in the streaming landscape as top creators navigate between platforms to find the best fit for their content and community.
