The internet has been buzzing with rumors of a potential feud between hip-hop heavyweights Lil Wayne and Drake, but recent developments suggest that the longtime collaborators are still on good terms. Speculation about a rift began circulating in July 2024, after Lil Wayne made a comment that left fans questioning the state of his relationship with Drake.

The rumors started when Lil Wayne, during an Instagram Live session, gave a shout-out to rapper GloRilla, noting that she was the only artist to approach him at billionaire Michael Rubin’s Fourth of July all-white party. “Shout-out to Glo,” Wayne said. “GloRilla was the only person that came up to me and really hollered at me, you feel me?” This struck many as odd, considering that several of Wayne’s close peers, including Drake, were also in attendance.

Lil Wayne reposts Drake’s new song, seemingly quelling ongoing rumors of a feud between the longtime collaborators, sparking fan reactions.

Adding fuel to the fire, a video surfaced shortly after showing Lil Wayne rapping along to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a track known for its perceived shots at Drake, during a performance in Las Vegas. Fans began to wonder if Wayne was subtly signaling his support for Lamar in his ongoing feud with Drake, raising questions about whether there was tension between the two Young Money artists.

However, Lil Wayne’s team quickly shut down the rumors. In a statement to Rolling Stone, they clarified that the viral video was misleading. According to the team, Wayne was actually rapping, “They don’t like us,” while holding up his OVO Sound chain, which represents Drake’s brand. This clarification helped quell some of the concerns about a possible falling out between the two rappers, but doubts lingered about the status of their relationship.

The speculation took another turn in early August when The Weeknd, who is reportedly feuding with Drake, posted a photo of Lil Wayne wearing an XO chain—The Weeknd’s label—on his Instagram Story. The image reignited debates about where Wayne’s loyalties truly lay, especially given the ongoing tensions between The Weeknd and Drake.

But on August 26, 2024, Lil Wayne seemingly put all the rumors to rest by reposting Drake’s new song “No Face” to his Instagram Story. This public show of support appeared to confirm that there is no bad blood between the two artists. Wayne’s gesture reassured fans that his relationship with Drake remains as strong as ever, despite the swirling rumors.

Fans quickly took to social media to react to Wayne’s repost, with many expressing relief that the beef rumors had been put to bed. “Think that puts the beef rumors to rest,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). Another user commented, “Even Wayne knows Drake won,” referring to Drake’s high-profile rap feud with Kendrick Lamar earlier in the year.

Others were just happy to see Lil Wayne publicly supporting Drake, with one fan writing, “He finally showing some support.” The news also sparked hope among fans for a new collaboration between the two rap legends. “A Drake and Wayne collab will heal hip hop right now,” one fan suggested.

However, not everyone was convinced that the beef rumors were entirely unfounded. Some speculated that the repost might be a strategic move to quiet the rumors. “PR so people can stop thinking they beefing even if they are cause Wayne a classy mf,” one user theorized.

While the true nature of their relationship might still be the subject of some debate, Lil Wayne’s recent actions suggest that any rumors of a feud with Drake have been greatly exaggerated. The two remain close, and fans can continue to enjoy their music without worrying about any underlying tension between the two rap icons.
