Actress Mary Mara has unfortunately passed away. Her manager confirmed that she died on Sunday.
According to New York State Police, Mara reportedly drowned in the St. Lawrence River during a swim. She was 61 years old.

According to a police report, New York State Police troopers received a call about a possible drowning at nearly 8 am local time on Sunday in the town of Cape Vincent where Mary Mara used to live.
Once they arrived at the scene, the cops found her lifeless body in the water. The reports further mentioned that the body showed no signs of foul play.
Mara’s representative revealed to Fox News Digital, ‘Mary’s body was found this morning in her beloved St. Lawrence River.’
They added, ‘She drowned while swimming.’
Authorities claim that Mara was visiting her sister’s summer home, which fronts the St. Lawrence River when she jumped in the river for exercise.
Regardless, an autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
An investigation into her tragic death is ongoing.
Mara leaves behind a former husband and a stepdaughter.
Her manager told Page Six, ‘Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met. I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off-Broadway. She was electric, funny, and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.’
Who was Mary Mara?
Mary Mara was born in Syracuse, New York City in 1960. She graduated from the San Francisco State University and later attended the Yale School of Drama.
Mara made her debut in the 1989 television movie, The Preppie Murder. From there she went on to act in a myriad of television and film projects.
She appeared in nearly 20 movies and 40 TV shows throughout her life.
Mara’ dominated the television drama genre. She featured in popular shows such as E.R., Law & Order, Ray Donovan, Nash Bridges, Lost, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Dexter.
Her film credits include her role in Prom Night (2008), Mr. Saturday Night, True Colors, and Blue Steel.
She also guests starred in shows such as NYPD Blue, Hope & Gloria, Criminal Minds, and Joan of Arcadia, Bones.
Mara’s last on-screen appearance was in a movie called Break Even which was released in 2020.
