R&B singer Kehlani has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Javaughn Young-White, as the two become embroiled in a heated custody dispute. The order, issued by the Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 9, 2024, prevents Young-White from contacting Kehlani or their daughter, Adeya, or coming within 100 yards of them. This legal action follows disturbing claims made by Kehlani about Young-White’s alleged abusive behavior and his lifestyle, which she argues poses a danger to their child.

In her filing, Kehlani detailed a particularly alarming incident from June 2024, where she alleges Young-White violently smashed through her locked bedroom door during a disagreement, hurling derogatory insults at her, including calling her a “b####” and a “liar.” According to Kehlani, this incident was the tipping point after five years of what she describes as “chaos and abuse.” She stated that she asked him to leave her home that day, seeking to end the volatile relationship once and for all.

Kehlani’s accusations go beyond just the physical altercation. She claims that while living with her, Young-White spent his days smoking weed and consuming psychedelic mushrooms, a lifestyle she deemed irresponsible, especially with a child in the home. The singer also alleged that Young-White’s residence was in disarray, with food and marijuana strewn about, and that their daughter would return from visits smelling strongly of weed. These concerns, she argued, warranted the court’s intervention to protect their child’s well-being.

Despite the serious nature of these allegations, Young-White has vehemently denied the claims, turning the tables on Kehlani by accusing her of being the true abuser in their relationship. Taking to Instagram, Young-White shared what he claimed were screenshots of text messages between him and Kehlani, aiming to prove his innocence. He alleged that Kehlani was making “false accusations of abuse” and had manipulated him for years. According to Young-White, he often forgave Kehlani’s actions because, otherwise, she would “weaponize” their daughter against him.

One of his most shocking counterclaims is that Kehlani herself busted through her own door during the June incident, framing him as the aggressor. “I have more [evidence],” Young-White wrote, asserting that he had kept a paper trail to protect himself against her alleged lies. He also claimed to have cut off contact with Kehlani the previous month due to her abusive behavior, alleging that she fabricates abuse claims when she feels scared or threatened.

This bitter exchange between the former couple escalated after Young-White sought full custody of Adeya, claiming that Kehlani’s involvement in what he described as a “sex cult” posed a significant risk to their daughter. Kehlani has strongly denied these accusations, insisting that they are baseless. Young-White later demanded a retraction from TMZ, the outlet that first reported on his custody filing, arguing that his remarks had been taken out of context.

As the situation unfolds, the restraining order remains in effect, with a court hearing scheduled for September 3, 2024. Both parties continue to use social media to air their grievances, leaving fans and the public watching closely to see how this legal battle will resolve.
