According to Variety, Marvel Studios has cut ties with actor Jonathan Majors after a New York jury convicted him guilty of assault as well as harassment of his former fiancée during a domestic quarrel. Majors originally appeared as a version of the villain Kang in the 2021 Disney+ series Loki’s season finale. Majors & his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari were embroiled in a domestic dispute in March, which led to the trial. Majors previously pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour assault and aggravated harassment allegations. Majors’ talent management, Entertainment 360, and his public relations firm, the Lede Company, have both dismissed him following his arrest. He has no connection to the Protagonist Pictures feature The Man in My Basement.’

The US Army and the Texas Rangers baseball team also cancelled advertisements featuring the actor. In addition to Majors, Spike Lee’s ‘Da Understudy’ for Amazon and Dennis Rodman’s ’48 Hours in Vegas’ for Lionsgate are still in the works. There were four misdemeanour charges against Majors: misdemeanour assault, aggravated assault, and harassment. In the end, he was found guilty of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment, according to The Guardian. He was acquitted of one count of aggravated harassment and one count of assault, however. The date of his sentencing has been set for February 6, 2024. The actor could spend up to a year in prison or on probation.

Marvel Studios Cut Ties With Jonathan Majors After A New York Jury Convicted Him Guilty Of Assault And Harassment Of His Former Fiancée

Jonathan Majors has been excluded from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who played the role of Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania and appeared in the current season of the Disney+ series Loki, has left Marvel Studios. The 34-year-old was also scheduled to appear in several other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including a fifth Avengers film. The motion comes about an hour after a jury in his misdemeanor assault trial returned a verdict on Monday. Majors was found guilty of two offences in a split verdict: misdemeanour assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury, and harassment in the second degree, which is a violation. The actor was deemed not guilty of the misdemeanour of third-degree assault with intent to cause bodily harm and the misdemeanour of second-degree aggravated harassment. The allegations stemmed from an alleged confrontation in March between him and his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, that spilled into streets of Manhattan’s Chinatown neighbourhood. Majors was found “not guilty” on the first charge by Foreperson Rebecca Martinez, who stood in front of the judge.

His head was down until she convicted him of the second offense. He kept an eye on her for the rest of the charges. The remaining five jurors — two more women and three males — then notified the judge separately that they had agreed to the verdict. The panel of six returned Monday at 2:25 p.m. with the note, “We the jury have reached a verdict,” after around six hours and 15 minutes of deliberation, which began on Thursday. Majors faces up to a year in prison when he is sentenced on February 6, though the judge may opt for probation or therapy instead. The judge warned him that a protective order was still in existence and that he may face extra charges if he made contact with Jabbari. “No studio or production company would be right to work with him right now,” a source in the entertainment industry tells PEOPLE, referring to the jury’s decision. The newest entity to dissociate itself from Majors is Marvel Studios. PEOPLE reported at the time that after he was detained in March, his public relations firm, the Lede Company, “stepped away” from working with him. Later, Disney removed his film Magazine Dreams from their release plan as well.
