BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently found herself at the center of a misunderstanding when she addressed her fans as “Rubies” in a voice message, leading to speculation that it might be the name of her official fandom. The confusion arose on September 19 when Jennie released a voice message through her agency’s official channel, greeting her fans with, “Hi, Rubies! It’s Jennie. Stay tuned, and see you soon. Love you. Bye!” The casual use of the term sparked immediate speculation, as fans wondered if Jennie was officially naming her fandom.

However, the situation quickly became more complicated due to another solo artist, Kwon Eun Bi, whose fandom is called “RUBI.” With both fandom names sounding nearly identical, some of Kwon Eun Bi’s supporters raised concerns about potential confusion between the two.

As the issue began gaining attention online, Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, stepped in to clear up the situation. In an official statement issued to the media outlet Xportsnews, they clarified that Jennie’s use of “Rubies” was not an official designation for her fanbase but rather an informal term used in a news update. The agency emphasized that Jennie does not yet have an official fandom name for her solo career. The statement read:

“We randomly referred to fans by that name on the news page, where we deliver news to fans. We did not officially announce the fandom’s name.”

This clarification has helped ease the confusion and assured fans of both Jennie and Kwon Eun Bi that no intentional overlap was intended. Jennie’s agency stressed that “Rubies” was simply a friendly way to refer to her fans in that particular message, and there are no official plans to adopt it as her fandom name.

The name “Rubies” holds personal significance for Jennie, as her full English name is Jennie Ruby Jane. Fans speculated that the use of “Rubies” was a nod to her middle name, but this appears to have been a one-time reference rather than the start of an official fandom title.

In the meantime, fans of the global star have even more reason to be excited. Jennie has been generating buzz recently with the launch of a mysterious countdown timer on her personal website, set to conclude on September 19 at 8 AM KST. The countdown has ignited widespread speculation, with fans eagerly awaiting what could be a major reveal, possibly the release of a new solo single. Jennie’s last solo track, You & Me, was released in October 2023, and anticipation for her next move is sky-high.

Jennie is also making waves beyond her music career. After recently signing a partnership with the prestigious American record label Columbia Records, which is home to global icons like Beyoncé, Adele, and Harry Styles, she has solidified her position as a rising international star. This partnership, coupled with the upcoming reveal linked to the countdown, has fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in her solo journey.

In addition to her music, Jennie made her acting debut in 2023 alongside The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in The Idol. Despite the show’s mixed reception, her contribution to the soundtrack, “One of the Girls,” became a hit, adding to her growing list of achievements.

As the countdown timer ticks closer to zero, fans worldwide are waiting with bated breath to see what Jennie has in store. Whether it’s new music or another surprise, one thing is certain—Jennie’s solo career continues to captivate audiences around the globe.
