Jamie Foxx is making a triumphant return to the hosting chair on the musical game show Beat Shazam after missing out on the previous season due to a health scare. The actor, who was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical emergency, will resume his hosting duties alongside his daughter, Corinne Foxx.
Nick Cannon filled in as the host for Beat Shazam season 6 during Jamie’s absence, but now, fans can rejoice as Jamie and Corinne gear up to entertain audiences once again. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Fox announced the exciting news on Monday, revealing that Jamie and Corinne will be back for the upcoming season of the show.
Corinne Foxx will also return as the show’s co-host DJ, reclaiming her role after being temporarily replaced by Kelly Osbourne last season. Season 7 of Beat Shazam is set to premiere on May 28, with Jamie also serving as an executive producer on the show. This season will feature themed episodes showcasing teams of ‘fathers, siblings, teachers, heroes, and mothers.’
Allison Wallach, president of unscripted entertainment at Fox Entertainment, expressed her excitement about Jamie and Corinne’s return, emphasizing their unique dynamic as a father-daughter hosting duo. She stated, “Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam… As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”
Jamie Foxx’s health scare last year left fans concerned about his well-being. He was hospitalized during the filming of Netflix’s movie Back in Action in April 2023, leading to a long recovery process. Although the nature of his medical emergency remains undisclosed, rumors circulated about potential side effects from a Covid-19 vaccine, which were later debunked by a spokesperson for the actor.
In December 2023, Jamie made his first public appearance since the health scare at a Critics Choice Association event, where he hinted at the severity of his condition. Reflecting on his journey, he mentioned struggles with mobility, saying, “I couldn’t do that six months ago, I couldn’t actually walk to [the stage]… I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. It was hot in that tunnel too, I don’t know where I was going…”
With Jamie Foxx back in the spotlight and ready to entertain audiences once again, fans eagerly anticipate the return of Beat Shazam and the infectious energy he and Corinne bring to the show.
