Rumors of President Joe Biden planning to add 13th and 14th grades have been making rounds on the internet recently. However, the possibility of having more years in school has left some social media users worried.

The rumors of President Joe Biden extending more years in high school began surfacing in June 2021. It came after a clip that misconstrued his words. 

While the video has been deleted since then, USA Today recently did a fact-check on the speculation.

Moreover, the clip showed Biden’s proposed, ‘American Families Plan guarantees four additional years of public education for every person in America.’

In addition, the overlay message on the video reads, ‘Joe Biden Says He Plans To Extend High School Education By Four More Years.’

Also, the post was outlined with a caption that said, ‘#JoeBiden thinks 12 years of public school education isn’t enough.’

Regardless, to sum it all up, Biden’s proposal was distorted which led to the misleading video being viral online. Furthermore, he has not announced any plan to elongate the 13th and 14th grades in the high school education system.

The real meaning behind Joe Biden’s words

President Joe Biden took the stage on April 28th, 2022 to address Congress. However, his words during the speech were clearly taken out of context. Some user turned it into a false claim about Biden extending high school by four years.

At that time he stated, ‘I wonder whether we’d think, as we did in the 20th century. hat 12 years is enough in the 21st century. I doubt it. Twelve years is no longer enough today to compete with the rest of the world in the 21st century.’

He continued, ‘That’s why my American Families Plan guarantees four additional years of public education for every person in America. tarting as early as we can.’

In other words, Biden meant that the American Families Plan would include two years of free pre-schooling and two years of free community college.

American Families Plan proposes free pre-schooling and community college 

The American Families Plan is reported to grant  $200 billion for free prekindergarten for children of 3 to 4 years old. Moreover, it will grant $109 billion for free community college to all US citizens.

If the proposal is accepted then the states can choose to team up with the government to receive the funding.
