Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is facing the heat on social media after a video went viral of a baby being crowd-surfed to him during Black Adam’s press tour.

Here is everything you need to know.

Dwayne Johnson shares the baby crowd-surfing clip

Dwayne Johnson recently took to his Instagram to share a video from a recent fan event at Diego Rivera Museum for his upcoming superhero film Black Adam.

In the clip, we can see the audience delicately passing an infant to each other. Moreover, Johnson reaches out to the baby when it was near the stage.

The 50-year-old captioned the post with a caption that read, ‘Our BLACK ADAM tour has been electric, fun and emotional. People do cry and they hand me things – I was NOT surprised to be handed this beautiful little baby.’

He added, ‘Her father caught my attention because he had tears in his eyes when he held her up high and gestured for me to hold her.’

Furthermore, Johnson claimed that he initially thought the baby was a toy doll.

He noted, ‘I honestly thought he was holding a toy doll he wanted me to have as a gift.’

Additionally, the Baywatch star continued, ‘This beautiful, serene, present, and trusting angel is Luciana. One day, I bet she’ll inspire all those around her.’

Johnson concluded the statement with, ‘And whatever this moment meant for her emotional father — means it meant something special for me too. Girl dads ROCK.’

Social media users criticize Dwayne Johnson for the stunt

Netizens were not so impressed with the stunt as many expressed concern over how the infant was held during the crowd-surfing.

Subsequently, others slammed the audience for the alleged lack of support for the baby’s neck.

A user wrote, ‘What is going on here?’

A second one said, ‘The baby has no idea what’s happening.’

A third one sarcastically noted, ‘Letting your newborn be passed around to random people in a crowd during a pandemic. What could go wrong.’

Moreover, a different user pointed out, ‘Personally, I’d never let that many strangers touch my child.’

Meanwhile, a few users compared the controversial moment to a scene from   Darren Aronofsky’s thriller film Mother!

They claimed, ‘Y’all remember that scene in the horror movie Mother!?’

Someone else chimed in saying, ‘Ummm giving Mother! vibes…’

Furthermore, some users faulted the baby’s parents for agreeing to the viral video.

One user commented, ‘That dad has a lot of explaining to do when he gets home.’
