Drake’s Toronto Mansion Flooded During Severe Storm, Rapper Shares Video of Damage.

Drake found himself in an unexpected cleanup mode after a severe storm hit Toronto, causing massive flooding inside his luxurious mansion. The rapper shared the ordeal with his fans via Instagram, showcasing the extent of the damage and his attempts to manage the situation.

Drake’s Efforts to Control the Flood

On Tuesday evening, July 16, Drake posted videos on his Instagram Story capturing the aftermath of the storm. The “Hotline Bling” rapper filmed a scene where an unidentified man struggled to keep water from pouring through glass double doors. The flooding seemed to originate from a closet, spilling into an adjacent bathroom and spreading throughout the room.

Drake could be seen wading through ankle-deep water, armed with a broom in an attempt to push the water out. Despite his efforts, the situation was far from under control.

A Closer Look at the Damage

Drake’s video provided a glimpse into the chaos inside his 50,000-square-foot mansion, affectionately dubbed “The Embassy.” The footage showed water surging through various rooms, including a seating area with mirrors and a sink. Maintaining his sense of humor, Drake captioned one video, “This better be Espresso Martini,” referring to the murky brown water flooding his home.

Impact of the Storm on Toronto

The severe rainstorm that hit Toronto caused widespread damage and power outages. According to CBC News, Toronto Hydro reported that 167,000 customers were left without power due to the storm. The heavy rainfall, which accumulated around four inches, led to numerous rescue operations and significant damage to vehicles and properties across the city.

The Embassy: A Masterpiece of Luxury

Drake’s mansion, known for its grandeur and opulence, was designed by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli. The estate features a great room with a 40-foot ceiling, exotic wood floors, a limestone entryway, and an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court. Described as “modern Art Deco,” the mansion was built to stand firm for 100 years, embodying monumental scale and high luxury.

In a 2020 interview with Architectural Digest, Drake expressed his vision for the home: “Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel.” He further described the mansion as “overwhelming high luxury,” reflected in the size of the rooms and the exquisite details of the floors and ceilings.

Insurance and Future Precautions

Given the mansion’s estimated value of $100 million, it is likely that Drake has flood insurance to cover any losses incurred from the flooding. The property, constructed in 2019, is not just a home but a work of art. It includes a 3,200-square-foot master-bedroom suite, marble floors, an indoor basketball court, and a bespoke concert grand piano designed in collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.

Fans got a surprising look inside Drake’s lavish home in 2020 when he filmed the music video for “Toosie Slide” during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The video showcased several rooms throughout the mansion, giving fans a glimpse into the rapper’s extravagant lifestyle.

Despite the unfortunate flooding, Drake’s fans can be assured that the rapper’s sense of humor and resilience remain intact. While the storm left significant damage, The Embassy’s robust construction and Drake’s preparedness likely mean that the mansion will soon be restored to its former glory.
