John Callis, a 24-year-old resident of Baltimore, has gained widespread attention after a video showing him assaulting two Washington Commanders fans went viral. The violent incident took place following the Ravens’ victory over the Commanders in a heated “Battle of the Beltway” game on Sunday, where the Ravens emerged victorious with a 30-23 win. The assault, captured on video, led to a massive public reaction and prompted Baltimore police to issue an arrest warrant for Callis on charges of first-degree aggravated assault and three counts of second-degree assault.

The viral video, which has amassed over 50 million views, shows Callis—wearing a purple Lamar Jackson Ravens jersey—aggressively attacking two men in Washington Commanders jerseys. In the footage, Callis is seen taunting and physically assaulting the victims, kicking and punching one of them before slamming the other against a brick wall. After the violent exchange, John Callis turned to the camera and boasted, “I don’t lose! I don’t f—ing lose!” The aggressive celebration, along with cheering from those recording the video, added to the disturbing nature of the incident.

Baltimore police confirmed they were investigating the attack and have identified the two victims as 23-year-old males. While the names of the victims have not been officially released, the assault has led to widespread outrage, especially within the NFL fan community. The Baltimore police are asking anyone with information to contact Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland.

This is not the first time John Callis has had a run-in with the law. In 2021, he was detained by police for another assault in Towson, Maryland, which resulted in a fine and probation before judgment on second-degree assault charges. Given his previous history of violence, this latest incident is expected to have severe legal consequences. The first-degree aggravated assault charge against him is a felony in Maryland, punishable by up to 25 years in prison, while second-degree assault charges carry up to 10 years of prison time and a potential fine.

As the investigation continues, Callis’ employer, an insurance provider named Maury Donnelly and Parr Inc., has confirmed that they have severed ties with him. The company made the decision after Callis was publicly identified as the attacker in the viral video.

The incident occurred in the 1000 block of South Charles Street in Baltimore, a well-known location for game-day gatherings. The footage shows Callis approaching the two Commanders fans without provocation before launching his attack. Bystanders can be heard shouting, “Do we got a straggler?!” as the situation escalates.

The video, which has drawn widespread criticism, reflects the darker side of fandom that can sometimes lead to dangerous confrontations. Fans from both the Ravens and Commanders have expressed their disapproval of the violent behavior displayed in the video, calling for accountability and legal action.

As of Wednesday, the Baltimore police confirmed that they are still in the process of locating and interviewing the victims, and they continue to ask for any additional information about the case. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining civility at sporting events, where team loyalty and passion should never escalate to violence.
