What happened to Dori Monson?
KIRO Newsradio published an article to announce the death of popular radio personality, Dori Monson on 31st December 2022.
In addition, the statement read, ‘The KIRO Newsradio family and Bonneville International Corporation – along with the immediate family of Dori Monson – are deeply saddened to announce Dori’s sudden passing Saturday night at a Seattle hospital.’
Moreover, they continued to reveal that Monson had been suffering from health issues in the past couple of years.
Furthermore, the article by Bonneville International, which owns KIRO-FM, added that Monson had a cardiac arrest on 29th December Thursday. However, he was admitted to the hospital following the incident.
KIRO Newsradio went on to describe Monson as a ‘longtime watchdog of government and social issues.’
Additionally, they said that the station is currently working to make on-air tributes for the late radio personality.
They wrote, ‘Dori was known by his many listeners as a boy from the “mean streets of Ballard.’
For the unversed, Monson was considered to be among the top-rated mid-day hosts at KIRO-FM.
Meanwhile, Monson graduated from the University of Washington. Besides that, after completing his education, Monson joined KING-TV and KING Radio and later went on to work for KIRO in the early 1990s.
Monson’s career in the radio industry spanned more than four decades. Also, he was famous for covering social issues and political topics with his work being appreciated by the masses.
Regardless, Monson’s family is yet to reveal any details about his funeral and further ceremonies which are most likely to take place.
Family and friends express condolences over Dori Monson’s unfortunate demise
Multiple friends, colleagues, and listeners of Dori Monson took to social media to pay tribute to the radio personality after receiving news about his death.
Jason Rantz, from KTHH Radio, said, ‘I’m in complete shock at the passing of Dori Monson. There’s nothing I can say in a tweet — or a book — to adequately describe his impact on our city, our radio stations, and our lives. In addition to inspiring me, he was my friend. I’m going to miss him.’
Moreover, Cathy Cangiano, the Bonneville Seattle Senior Vice President, and Market Manager, also issued a statement to address Monson’s passing away.
She messaged, ‘We, along with Dori’s family, are mourning his loss. We are working on on-air tributes to memorialize and celebrate his life and legacy.’
