Coi Leray, the multi-platinum-selling rapper, recently faced a wave of criticism on social media after she compared herself to fellow rapper Lil Uzi Vert. Coi Leray, who has never been one to shy away from expressing her opinions, declared herself as the “female Uzi” among the “rap girlies,” a statement that was met with negative reactions from fans and followers.

“I feel like I’m the female UZI out of the rap girlies,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Top influential, versatile and can’t figure me out.” This bold assertion sparked a flurry of responses, with many questioning the validity of her claim.

Coi Leray, an artist under Island Records, has previously made headlines for her outspoken views. She recently voiced her frustrations about female rap beef on social media and denied having any issues with Nicki Minaj when a fan questioned her about it. “Me and Nicki spoke behind the scenes, personally, and I never brought that to the public,” she wrote. “Business ain’t work out, that’s okay. I still wish her nothing but the best and blick blick is one of the greatest videos that will be in history.”

In a since-deleted post on X, Leray distanced herself from her controversial father, Benzino, who is currently embroiled in a feud with Eminem. She disowned her father and criticized him for using her name for “clout.” Benzino defended himself, accusing his daughter of trying to make him look like a bad parent.

The reactions to Leray’s comparison to Lil Uzi Vert were largely negative. Fans took to social media to express their disagreement with her statement. Some pointed out that Leray’s career has not had a run close to that of Lil Uzi Vert in 2019. Others criticized her versatility, comparing her music to that of Flo-Rida and stating that they couldn’t figure her out because they didn’t care enough.

Despite the backlash, Coi Leray remains undeterred. She continues to express her views openly and stands by her comparison to Lil Uzi Vert. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact Leray’s career and public image.
