Cameron Diaz admits to serving as a drug ‘mule’
Cameron Diaz recently sat down with the Second Life podcast which comes days after the announcement broke out that the Holiday star will come out of her retirement to feature in a new Netflix film.
While talking about her struggling days as an actress, Diaz recalled an incident where she might have unwittingly carried illegal substances.
The 49-year-old celebrity shared that she moved to Paris after saving money from doing catalog modeling work in California post-high school.
Diaz further explained that before she got her breakout role in The Mask, she was struggling as a model but got herself one job.
The Sex Tape actress begins, ‘I started working as a catalog model and I got enough money to move to Paris and get an apartment, which I shared with a girl who is still one of my best friends.’
She continued, ‘I was there a full year and didn’t work one day. I couldn’t book a job to save my life. Then I got one job but, really, I think I was a mule carrying drugs to Morocco- I swear to God.’
Diaz added that it was during the 90s and ‘they gave me a suitcase that was locked that had my “costumes” in it.’
The Charlie Angels star admitted that when she arrived in Morocco from Paris, airport officials questioned her about whether she is the owner of the suitcase and if it could be opened or not. However, Diaz eventually told them it was not hers.
She said, ‘All of the calculations in my head went running back, like, ‘What the f**k is in this suitcase?’
Diaz mentioned, ‘I’m this blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl in Morocco, it’s the ’90s, I’m wearing torn jeans and platform boots and my hair down, and this is really unsafe.’
Cameron Diaz joins in the un-retirement trend
