Blackpink just dropped their latest single Pink Venom which is going viral as it interpolates Rihanna’s 2005 hit song Pon de Replay.
Here is everything you need to know.
Blackpink’s Pink Venom is inspired by Rihanna’s Pon de Replay
K-pop girl group Blackpink recently released their comeback song, Pink Venom on Friday. It is the lead single of the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Born Pink.
However, the song is creating a buzz on the internet for interloping noticeable references from Rihanna’s breakout track Pon de Replay.
During the start of Pink Venom fans noticed that Lisa briefly sings the verses, ‘It goes one by one, even two by two.’ These are among the most recognizable lyrics in Pon de Replay.
The official video of the track was released subsequently after the track was viewed by more than 14 million users in just a few hours of its release.
The band, especially Jennie, has previously revealed their love for Rihanna.
Jennie shared that she sang Take A Bow by Rihanna when she auditioned for YG Entertainment.
In a previous interview with Elle Korea, the Snowdrop actress mentioned, ‘My number one idol will always be Rihanna. She has everything I want to have.’
