Billy Idol scores the first Hollywood Walk of Fame star of 2023

Billy Idol is starting 2023 off strong. He is all set to receive the first Hollywood Walk of Fame star this year.

Billy Idol is the first celebrity to be honored in 2023 for Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame

Walk of Fame released a statement to confirm that Billy Idol would be the first star to be honored with a star in 2023.

Moreover, the British rocker was scheduled to receive the award on 5th January. However, the event is rescheduled to the following day due to inclement weather.

Meanwhile, Ana Martinez, the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame talked about Idol ahead of the event before it was postponed for Friday.

She said, “There will be lots of rebels yelling for their favorite rock star Billy Idol when he receives his well-deserved Walk of Fame star on January 5.’

In addition, she continued, ‘Since the beginning of his career Billy Idol has held the hearts of many of his fans who finally will be able to visit his star and witness his induction into the Walk of Fame.’

Besides that, the Cradle of Love crooner will be the 2,743rd artist to receive a star on the Walk of Fame. 

Furthermore, his recognition will be placed at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Amoeba Music. The singer will be honored under the Recording category at the event that was kickstarted back in 1960.

The ceremony will include artist Shepard Fairey and rocker Henry Rollins as the guest speakers. Also, Lupita Sanchez Cornejo, Chair of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will serve as the emcee for the event.

Fans on the other hand can watch the ceremony on the official site of Walk of Fame. It will begin at 11:30 am PT on the same day.

Billy Idol began his career in music as a guitarist for the punk rock band called Chelsea in the 1970s. However, he left the band and established his own band named Generation X alongside former bandmate and bassist Tony James.

Additionally, the band released three albums together, Generation X (1978), Valley of the Dolls (1981), and Kiss Me Deadly (1981). The members announced their split following the release of their third album.
