Bacardi claims that Jay-z is inflating D’Ussé’s amid a legal battle

Jay-z is currently locked in a legal battle with Bacardi revolving around the furtive of D’Ussé. However, it appears like things are getting messier by the day before the hearings.

Is Jay-Z trying to ‘inflate D’Ussé’ before selling his shares?

TMZ broke the news on Wednesday, that Bacardi is claiming that Jay-Z increase the value of the brand. They alleged that he is trying to make a much bigger profit. 

Moreover, Empire Investments, a division of the liquor brand stated that both parties made a ‘handshake deal’ in December last year. 

According to their agreement, Empire would purchase a 50% stake of the 4:44 chart-topper’s share in the cognac brand. 

However, the Roc Nation founder, ‘abruptly reneged on its agreement and doubled its demanded valuation.’

In simple words, Empire/Bacardi is accusing Jay-Z is trying to inflate the value of the company in the hopes of supposedly making more money out of them.

The music mogul and entrepreneur’s legal team on the other hand claimed that Bacardi is deliberately trying to ‘lowball’ him on the overall price of the brand when he decided to sell his share of the cognac at the end of 2021.

However, there is still no news over what price was agreed upon when both parties made the ‘handshake deal.’

The Grammy award winner has previously filed a legal request for Bacardi to reveal the brand’s numbers in order to find out the true value of the cognac.

Meanwhile, Bacardi’s legal team responded to the claims by stating that they have already delivered more than 800 pages of financial information about the brand. But they are refusing to share any other data despite Hov’s request.

Bacardi cited that the sensitive data in connection with the brand has nothing to do with their partnership with D’Ussé.

Moreover, the legal teams of both parties will discuss more the case in their upcoming hearing which is scheduled to take place this Friday in New York.
