It appears like the news of a Twitter parody account of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka AOC has taken over social media. Moreover, it resulted in her threatening to leave the site.
Here is everything you need to know.
AOC shares her outrage at the Twitter parody account
Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to her official Twitter account on Tuesday to lash out at an account pretending to be her.
In addition, it comes after her nemesis Elon Musk engaged with the account that is reportedly impersonating AOC.
She wrote, ‘FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral.’
She continued, ‘The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility.’
The woke New York Congresswoman went on to state, ‘It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.’
The squad member also threatened to abandon her 13.4 million Twitter followers after the incident.
Nevertheless, the controversy began after an account named Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez Press Release (parody) tweeted that she had a ‘crush’ on Musk.
The Twitter CEO on the other hand replied with a fire emoji.
Hence, it was unsurprising that AOC was livid with her parody’s interaction with Musk.
The parody account further mocked the 33-year-old by saying, ‘I can’t believe someone would do that to us.’
Meanwhile, if you didn’t know, AOC has been one of the distinguished critics of Musk and his latest Twitter verification policy that is allowing more accounts to get a blue check.
Besides that, Ocasio-Cortez continues to remain gray in order to make an obvious difference between her government account and other verified pages despite the parody account having the blue checkmark.
Social media users react to viral AOC Twitter parody account
Many netizens supposedly are having a field day with the viral parody account of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Additionally, several users pointed out that since the account is a parody account it should continue to stay.
Nevertheless, most internet users were quick to make fun of AOC and noted that the parody account has more snark than her real one.
A user wrote, ‘I knew AOC was beyond stupid, but not understanding “Parody” is an all-new level of ignorance.’
Someone else chimed in to say, ‘The account is not impersonating you, it’s making fun of you. Damn, you’re ignorant.’
A different user commented, ‘The Parody AOC page is the best thing I’ve seen all week.’
