A beloved McHenry roller-skating rink has been destroyed by fire, authorities said

A fire destroyed a former building used as a roller rink Friday night in McHenry, firefighters said. Firefighters from several departments spent two hours battling a fire at the former roller rink in McHenry on Friday. Fire Chief Bill Zedaker said the fire was under control. A two-alarm fire at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday night tore through a former roller skating rink on the 900 block of Front Street. Twenty trucks were sent to the scene as crews battled the blaze and prevented it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

collapsed shortly after the fire broke down. The charming building has been vacant since the roller rink closed last year, but the people there were just waiting for the next creative tenant to make it shine. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and have not yet determined a motive for the blaze. The rink has a spectacular history in this little town. It started as a dance hall and later became a roller rink. After many successful years, it closed down for very sad reasons.

Though the officials stated that there are no injuries and there is nothing to worry about. They haven’t received any loff of life. However, they are still searching for the cause of the fire and they have started investigating it. The owners of the former roller rink have, in a statement on Facebook, said that they were deeply saddened by the loss of the building that was home to their business over the last few years. As many remember, the “Just for Fun” roller rink was the place to skate back in their day.
