You season 3 may have just ended, but Joe Goldberg has already been confirmed to return for more in You season 4 – and things will likely get even more complicated for him.
The landscape will be different when the series returns due to major character death in season three. However, Joe (Penn Badgley) and his murderous quest for happiness will most certainly keep raising eyebrows.
Sera Gamble, the showrunner, released a statement announcing the fourth season on behalf of Netflix saying: “We’re deeply grateful to Netflix for showing You such a tremendous amount of support and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe get it all wrong for the past three seasons. We are looking forward to exploring new, dark facets of love in season four”.
Speculation about the release date of season 4
The release date of season 4 of You has not yet been confirmed. Netflix has revealed that the series has begun filming for You season 4.
We should be seeing new episodes before Christmas 2022 now that production has started.
You premiered its first season on Netflix worldwide on December 26th 2018. Its second season was released exactly a year later.
The show was quickly renewed for a third season in January 2020, but production was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The series was not completed until April 2021, six months after being picked up by Netflix.
Cast of You season 4
The cast of You season 4 has only been confirmed by two so far.
- Penn Badgley in the role of Joe Goldberg
- and Luke Gage as Adam
As creepy Joe, Penn Badgley reprises his role as the widower who faked his death, leaving his son Henry behind after fake killing himself at the hands of Love Quinn.
According to Netflix, Euphoria’s Lukas Gage was cast in a major role as Adam in the series on 17th February 2022.
He wrote on Twitter: “In @YouNetflix Season 4, Gage plays Adam, the warm, funny, and hard-partying son of a wealthy family famous for failing to live up to their expectations. His parents did teach him one thing: to do whatever is necessary to get what he wants.”
What will Adam’s role in Joe’s life be?
The Sun reports that several British stars have been cast in scenes filmed in London for the fourth season.
Tilly Keeper, Dario Coates, Eve Austin, Ed Speelers, and Sean Pertwee, all of whom have previously appeared in EastEnders and Coronation Street, are reportedly set to appear in new episodes. Fans shouldn’t expect the next outing of the show to feature a predominantly British cast, a source told The Sun.
Tati Gabrielle, who played former librarian Marienne in the third season, is the most likely candidate to return. The season ended with Joe trying to find Marienne in France after discovering his true nature from Love.
Saffron Burrows’ slightly unhinged character Dottie Quinn may want revenge should she find out that her father Joe is still alive because she is now the only survivor of the Quinn family.
