Jesse Lee Soffer is set to direct Chicago P.D. Season 10
On 20th October, Thursday, Variety reported that Jesse Lee Soffer is returning to Chicago P.D. to step up behind the camera.
According to the media outlet, Soffer is booked to direct the 16th episode of the police procedural Season 10. Moreover, the next season of Chicago P.D. is reportedly all set to hit the screens next year in 2023.
Meanwhile, if you didn’t know, the 38-year-old acted as Detective Jay Halstead and was featured in almost 189 episodes of the series.
His character was written off with Jay leaving the Intelligence and parting ways with his wife Hailey Upton after he took the job of an army leader in Bolivia.
He explains to Upton, ‘I took the job. I’ll be posted in Bolivia. It’s black and white. It’s good and bad. It right and wrong. It’s no more of this. I need that. I need that back.’
Additionally, he mentions, ‘It’s not forever. It’s eight months, maybe a little longer. But I swear to you that we’re going to get through this because you’re the love of my life, and if I’m yours, then you’ll know that you have to let me go.’
Why did Jesse Lee Soffer leave Chicago P.D?
Jesse Lee Soffer released a statement to announce his departure from Chicago P.D after ten seasons in August 2022.
His statement read, ‘I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years.’
Furthermore, he shared, ‘Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television.’
Soffer added, ‘To create this hour-long drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.’
Subsequently, he took to his official Twitter account to share the news personally with his fans and followers.
He wrote, ‘This is sad but true. Just want all the fans to know how grateful I am. You guys are why we do it! It has been an honor. Love you all.’
