Taylor Swift announces new album ‘Midnights’ after VMAs 2022 speech

Taylor Swift announced at the 2022 MTV VMAs Sunday that she has a new album coming out in October.

“I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out Oct. 21,” the 32-year-old singer said while accepting the award for Video of the Year

She then teased, “I will tell you more at midnight,” before later announcing the fitting title of her forthcoming project: “Midnights.”

“We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back,” she wrote alongside an image of the album cover.

“We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t — right this minute — about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.”

Swift explained that her new album is a collection “written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face.”

Before making the jaw-dropping announcement, Swift posted an official countdown to her website that stated under a ticking clock, “Meet me at midnight.”
