Sigourney Weaver Steps Into A Surprising New Role For 'Avatar 2' - First Look Image Revealed!

Sigourney Weaver‘s brand new role in Avatar 2 is something so surprising that fans are still wrapping their heads around it.

If you recall, the 72-year-old actress portrayed Dr. Grace Augustine, an xenobotanist and head of the Avatar Program on Pandora, in the first film that was released in 2009

However, Grace died due to a gunshot wound inflicted by Colonel Quaritch. But that didn’t count Sigourney out for the sequel film, titled Avatar 2: The Way of Water

Empire magazine unveiled the first images of Sigourney‘s new role in the movie – and it was revealed she’ll be playing Kiri, who is the adopted daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri.

Sigourney spoke to the magazine about embodying a teenage Na’vi, and shared it was fun bringing out her inner child

“I felt strongly that Kiri would feel awkward a lot of the time. She’s searching for who she is. I was thrilled to be given that challenge by Jim [James Cameron, director].
