Johnny Depp’s Next Film Reportedly Licensed by Netflix France

Johnny Depp may not be rejoining the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but his next feature film will stream on Netflix France, according to a new report from Bloomberg

Depp will play King Louis XV in the French-language film La Favorite -his first project post–defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Set to shoot this summer, the movie is reportedly slated to premiere in French theaters next year before hitting the streamer 15 months later.

La Favorite will be directed by Maïwenn, who is also costarring alongside Depp as King Louis XV’s last mistress, Jeanne Bécu.

This will mark Depp’s first film since 2020’s Minamata, the release of which was shelved for about a year amidst the actor’s legal woes.
