Stephanie McMahon, a top WWE official, announced her departure from the company on Twitter on Thursday.

In the stunning revelation, McMahon stated that she is temporarily stepping away from “the majority of [her] responsibilities” with WWE in order to focus on her family.

On Thursday afternoon, the announcement was made in a tweet.

“WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”

About Stephanie McMohan

McMahon, 45, is the WWE’s chief brand officer. She is in charge of guaranteeing the strength and expansion of WWE’s global brand.

McMahon is the wife of WWE icon Paul “Triple H” Levesque and the daughter of WWE chairman Vince McMahon. She and Levesque have three daughters together and have been married since 2003.

Stephanie McMahon and her family have been involved in professional wrestling for decades, having founded Raw, NXT, and SmackDown. Despite competition from upstarts, WWE pay-per-view events continue to be major draws, and the televised shows are rating winners.

McMahon has worked for the WWE since she was a child, and she returned to the family business full-time after graduating from college. Stephanie McMahon debuted on WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) television shows and was involved in several major storylines. She once held the WWF Women’s Championship and competed against her father, Vince McMahon, in the legendary “I Quit” match.

Stephanie McMahon has made sporadic television appearances. She was appointed chief brand officer in December 2013 and works with advertising, media, business partners, and investors.

As he battled health concerns, Levesque credited McMahon as his “rock”

She is married to Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, a WWE Hall of Famer. They are the parents of three girls.

Levesque faced a life-threatening health scare last year after suffering from heart failure. In a March interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, he revealed that he will never wrestle again due to cardiac problems. Levesque is currently working as WWE’s executive vice president of global talent strategy and development, despite his retirement from in-ring competition.

McMahon, according to Levesque, was his “rock” as he faced his health concerns. “She was and always will be a rock for me,” Levesque added.

It’s unclear how long McMahon intends to remain away from WWE, but her position is expected to be waiting for her when she returns.
