Jake Paul’s boxing sparring partner Anthony Taylor does not believe the YouTuber will face Mike Tyson in the future. A bout with Canelo, on the other hand, he believes would be “competitive.”
Jake Paul will return to the ring on August 12 after putting his own boxing career on hold to promote the super bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has yet to name his opponent. But there have been numerous rumors and speculations about who he will face. Former Heavyweight Champion and Boxing Legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson has been mentioned as one of the more intriguing names. Especially because the 55-year-old has stated that he would accept the match.
While Tyson is unlikely to be in fighting fitness by August. The potential of him and Jake competing in the future has been discussed. However, others in Jake’s camp are skeptical.
So far in his boxing career, Jake Paul has silenced all of his detractors
One of Jake’s regular sparring partners and someone who has fought on the undercards for his fights, Anthony ‘Pretty Boy’ Taylor, believes that the mutual respect between Jake and ‘Iron’ Mike will prevent it.
“I don’t think Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will fight just because they’re good friends”. They have much too much mutual regard for one other to get into a brawl,” Taylor told MyBettingSites. “Perhaps I’m missing something, perhaps they’re going to fight, but I don’t see Mike getting in there with Jake anytime soon, and I’d be surprised.”
Aside from Tyson, the Cruiserweight believes Jake might be “competitive” with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a few years, considering the skills he’s already demonstrated.
Tyson has already expressed interest in fighting Jake, because of the potential financial rewards. He’s not sure if the social media sensation will be able to keep out of trouble during the build-up to the bout.
It’ll be interesting to watch who Jake faces this summer. If he wins, it’ll be much more interesting to see who he targets next.
