Rapper DaBaby isn’t sweating the $4 million lawsuit brought against him by Brandon Bills, the brother of his ex-girlfriend DaniLeigh. In a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, the North Carolina rapper dismissed the legal battle as insignificant, predicting that it would be “the easiest case I ever had to beat.”
The lawsuit stems from a 2022 altercation at a bowling alley, where Bills claims DaBaby assaulted him “for no reason,” resulting in serious injuries and emotional distress. Bills is suing for $2 million in general damages and another $2 million for special damages. Despite the hefty price tag, DaBaby appeared unfazed, even taunting Bills over his chances in court.
During the interview, Bootleg Kev brought up the lawsuit, noting that Bills had previously threatened DaBaby online before approaching him in person. DaBaby responded with confidence, saying, “I don’t know nothing about it, man,” before adding, “I don’t see that going well for the man.”
The rapper, who maintains that he acted in self-defense, further elaborated that the lawsuit doesn’t concern him, particularly because of the evidence against Bills. “Threatening me on camera with all the different platforms out here,” DaBaby said. “It just don’t make sense. You going to have to pay them lawyer fees, my boy. They gon’ make you pay them too, they ain’t making me pay.”
DaBaby is so confident in his defense that he believes Bills will end up footing the legal bill once the lawsuit concludes. “That’s going to be the easiest case I ever had to beat,” he concluded, laughing off the entire situation.
The incident that sparked the lawsuit occurred in February 2022 at a Los Angeles bowling alley, where the two men had a physical altercation. At the time, videos circulated online showing a brawl involving DaBaby and his entourage, with Bills seemingly on the receiving end of the confrontation. Bills later claimed that DaBaby attacked him without provocation, leading to severe injuries, psychological trauma, and mounting medical bills.
DaBaby’s attorney, Drew Findling, had previously dismissed the lawsuit as a frivolous attempt to cash in on the rapper’s fame. “It is offensive that this alleged victim threatened and instigated violence and has now used this incident to make a quick money grab,” Findling stated. He added that cases like these serve only to clog the legal system and waste law enforcement resources.
Brandon Bills, however, has maintained that the attack was unjustified and that he is seeking compensation for the harm caused. The lawsuit aims to hold DaBaby accountable for what Bills describes as an unprovoked assault.
DaBaby and DaniLeigh, who share a child together, have had a tumultuous relationship both before and after the bowling alley incident. Their drama has often spilled over into public view, with heated exchanges on social media adding fuel to the fire.
