An American- Lebanese citizen named Ahmad Abouammo was found guilty of spying on behalf of the government of Saudi Arabia.

Ahmad Abouammo was accused of spying for Saudi Arabia was convicted in a San Francisco court on Tuesday. He was a a former employee at Twitter.
He was charged with six criminal counts which included falsifying records, money laundering as well as conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
As per the prosecutors, Abouammo was recruited by Bader Al-Asaker, one of the close advisers to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to the reports, Abouammo was tasked to provide them with details and personal information on Saudi dissidents.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that Abouammo could face 10 to 20 years behind the bars.
Regardless, CBS noted that the incident marked the first time when Saudi Arabia was accused of spying on the United States of America.

According to reports, Ahmad Abouammo supposedly leaked personal details to Salman’s team for more than 5 months. He allegedly revealed the data between November 2014 and May 2015.
It was also claimed that Abouammo not only received money for the task but also material gifts like a designer watch.
Moreover, CBS reported that prosecutors proclaimed that Abouammo apparently leaked information from more than 6000 Twitter accounts to the Saudi Arabian government.
Nevertheless, the Saudi officials also tried to close nearly 33 of these handles by submitting a disclosure request to Twitter.

Someone mentioned, ‘Oh my God, posting about the Middle East is cancer. Why do Saudis have this army of Twitter moles calling their country a utopia? That’s absolutely insane.’
They added, ‘I really want an intervention under the pride flag now to show them what real LGBT utopia is.’
