Recently, many brands like Burger King, Subway, and Pizza Hut reverted into simple logos. They do so to avoid extra flourishes and textures. Now, ABC is also added to this list. For this, they are working with Trollback company. They are trying to come back with refresh which launched on “Bacholertore” finale August 9. ABC design will roll out across various divisions even online also.
They are also working with affiliates to transition their logos. The president of content and marketing of Hulu and Disney General Entertainment ( included in ABC) says, “We felt it was time to evolve the overall look of the network to make it more vibrant, modern and fresh, new, bold and elevated look that visually represents our strategy and our diverse slate of programming. … We think we landed in a great place.” It seems that they are happy with the decision to revert their logo and also with the design of the logo.
Changes in the logo-
However, it may be possible that change might not look obvious to customers as change is minute but different. Their basic style was made by Paul Rand in 1962. They maintain that whenever they made changes. Over the years, they had made many changes like reflections, glows, etc. But now they came back to simplicity. The change that will be visible will be the shrinkage of letters”a-b-c” which are inside the logo. The circle of the logo will now be the basis of the network’s new ID animation system. This time logo is more flexible.
It is good in the digital era. They made their logo legible so that it shrinks to fit into program menus or social media apps. For the past two decades, the company was using yellow font but it changed during their “TV Is Good” era. They used a red, white, and black color palette. They are using it for the past 18 years and will continue with it but with some changes. The color will include more gradients and a slew of secondary color palettes. For the font change, the company will use Haldane and GT Americ which will be timeless, unique, bold as well as versatile.
