Activision Blizzard’s output continues to suffer as a result of the controversy surrounding the publisher. For two of its biggest gaming titles, which are Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4. It’s the most current statement showing postpones for gaming titles.

The following declaration was made during Activision Blizzard’s Q3 earnings call: “While we are still planning to deliver a substantial amount of content from Blizzard next year, we are now planning for a later launch for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV than originally envisaged”.

The language used in the first portion of the announcement is worth listening to. since it shows clearly that both games have been postponed longer from whatever inner plan they originally plotted.

It indicates that, despite the fact that a “substantial amount of content” is planned for next year, 2022. These two significant titles would not be included.  Therefore, both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 might come in 2023 or after, while also not specifically mentioned.

Other statements from the earnings call, which were contiguous to the above, reaffirm this: “some of the Blizzard content planned for next year will benefit from more development time to reach its full potential” and “these decisions will push out the financial uplift that we had expected to see next year”.

Departure and Delay of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 explained

The delay in August for Diablo 4 is most probably related to the departure of the game’s director and lead designer. Additionally, Overwatch 2’s game director Jeff Kaplan left in April, bringing the same story to a close.

As the time for the development teams to fine-tune the games. While the publisher is clearly eager to portray the release postponement. The sexual harassment and discrimination allegations have undoubtedly rendered the teams understaffed, either with altogether new personnel.

Jen Oneal, who is the co-leader of the company. After only three months in the position, is resigning. For Women in Games, she has obtained a $1 million grant. Which is a non-profit organization on whose board of directors she serves.

Overwatch 2 had postponed now,  so Blizzard has decided to run an early build of its upcoming 5v5 competitive multiplayer mode, the Overmatch League next season.
