In a new preview trailer for the “Christmas Showdown” storyline, Tokyo Revengers season 2 has been confirmed for January 2023.

Aside from the mega-franchise that is My Hero Academia and its fifth anime season, Tokyo Revengers was arguably the most popular series from the Spring and Summer 2021 broadcasting slates.

The time-traveling anime may not have been ‘hard-hitting’ in the same way that many other shows, but the Toman Gang surely knows how to fight.

The first season of Tokyo Revengers ended on September 18th of last year, and the anime was revived just a few months later in December.

Now, a brand new teaser for the “Christmas Showdown” arc has been released online, confirming the release date for Tokyo Revengers’ highly anticipated second season; here’s all you need to know.

Tokyo Revengers doesn’t waste any time in announcing their Season 2 production

The hit anime series Tokyo Revengers has been extended for a second season, which is good news for fans. The Christmas Conflict Arc was confirmed on December 18th, when it was revealed at the Jump Festa 2022 event that it was already in production.

Despite the joy of the official confirmation of its comeback, the announcement of Tokyo Revengers season 2 did not surprise many fans, owing to the series’ global success and the availability of source material from the original manga series.

Although Crunchyroll does not release audience data for simulcast titles, it is easy to observe how popular Toman is around the world. Tokyo Revengers season 1 has received almost 507,000 ratings on MyAnimeList, resulting in an amazing (and well-deserved) 8.12/10 rating.

AnimePlanet has a 4.2/5 rating, and IMDB has an 8.1/10 rating. Crunchyroll has a 4.6/5 rating, and AnimePlanet has a 4.6/5 rating.

Then there’s the issue of source material, as season 1 only adapted up to volume 8 chapter 73 of Ken Wakui’s original manga series, with season 1 episode 24 covering only the first half of the original manga.

The good news for fans is that, as of June 19th, Japan had published 28 volumes and 258 chapters, which means there should be enough source material for at least two more anime seasons!

Prior to the official announcement, there were reports that season 2 of Tokyo Revengers was already in the works. This was due to the fact that Tatsuhisa Suzuki’s talent management business notified Yahoo News Japan that “production of the second season of the anime has already begun.”

Suzuki has now been replaced by Masaya Fukunishi due to a decrease in his health and claims of an extramarital liaison with a female colleague.

The release window for Tokyo Revengers Season 2 has been confirmed

While news of the Christmas Conflict Arc being adapted was hailed by all Tokyo Revengers fans, no release date for season 2 was announced at the December Jump Festa event.

However, a brand new teaser trailer for the next second season has just been released online, indicating that the popular anime series will return in January 2023.

Unfortunately, no precise date has been announced, but it is safe to assume that the anime will return to its usual airing block in Japan.

Season 2 will also be simulcast internationally on Crunchyroll beginning in January 2023, with episode 1 likely premiering on Saturday, January 1st or Saturday, January 8th.

Tokyo Revengers Season 2’s amount of episodes has also not been confirmed; season 1 aired 24 episodes over two consecutive seasons (three-month programming blocks).

How to Read the Original English Manga Series

If you can’t wait for season 2 of the Tokyo Revengers anime to come out, you may read the original and ongoing manga series instead.

While Japan has published 28 complete Tankobon volumes, only 26 of them are now available in English (release dates for the remaining volumes in English remain TBA).

Comixology Unlimited, INKR, INKYPEN, Kindle Unlimited, and Mangamo are all presently offering streaming access to the series from Kodansha.

Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, BookWalker, Google Play, Izneo, Kobo, MyAnimeList, and Nook also sell digital copies.

This month, a new mobile game will be released

Surprisingly, the final statement from the Jump Festa 2022 event was that a Tokyo Revengers-themed mobile video game is in the works.

The official statement provided no details about the game’s perspective plot, but it has now been revealed to be a three-match rules puzzle game starring the ‘Chibi’ counterparts of the main Toman gang.

A URL was also supplied that leads to the ‘Tokyo Revengers Game’ website, which is now only available on Google Play with iOS support coming shortly.

According to reports, the game will be released on June 24th.
