Many Verizon users report receiving spam text messages from their own numbers.
The issue has been reported by many people who have taken to Twitter to address the messages and tagged the support team of the carrier.
The message in question notifies the customer that their bill has been paid and that they will receive a free gift if they click the link in the message.
One of the best ways to stop spam text messages is to check a call or text blocking service using your individual carrier or a third-party app.
If you suspect the text is spam, you can also click on the number and select "Block number" and delete the message.
In a Twitter post, Verizon said customers can stop spam calls by selecting the free call filter option, which lets you block all spam calls.
After many customer submissions, Verizon addressed the issue and said that this type of spam message is called spoofing.
In response to the Verizon Support Twitter account, the company recommends forwarding these spam texts to SPAM (7726).
