Stephen Strasburg Announces Retirement After 11 Seasons With The Washington Nationals

Stephen Strasburg has announced his retirement from baseball after 11 seasons with the Washington Nationals.

Strasburg was the first overall pick in the 2009 MLB draft and made his debut with the Nationals in 2010.

He was a three-time All-Star and won the World Series MVP in 2019, helping the Nationals win their first championship.

Strasburg finishes his career with a 112-58 record, a 3.19 ERA, and 1,729 strikeouts in 1,383 innings pitched.

He also holds the Nationals' franchise record for strikeouts and is second in wins and ERA.

Strasburg battled injuries throughout his career, including Tommy John surgery in 2010 and carpal tunnel syndrome in 2019.

Despite his injuries, Strasburg will be remembered as one of the most dominant pitchers in Nationals history and a key part of their championship run.
