Vice President Kamala Harris tests positive for COVID-19

Vice President Kamala Harris has tested positive for Covid, the White House said on Tuesday.

Harris received positive rapid and PCR tests, but is exhibiting no symptoms, according to her press secretary Kirsten Allen

She will isolate and work from the vice president's residence.

Harris has not been in close contact with President Joe Biden or first lady Jill Biden as their travel schedules haven’t aligned recently.

The vice president's positive diagnosis comes more than a month after her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, tested positive for COVID-19.

Harris was not in attendance at the April 2 event. But Jamal Simmons, Harris' communications director who attended the dinner, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, Allen said

The White House said neither President Joe Biden nor first lady Jill Biden were considered a “close contact" of Harris in recent days.
