E3 2022 is canceled

ESA has confirmed the cancellation of E3 2022 but said the show will return physically and digitally in 2023.

ESA originally planned an in-person E3 event this year after not holding the event in 2020 due to COVID-19 and digitally in 2021.

Sources connected to the event tell IGN that discussions about a possible digital equivalent have been ongoing ever since

but without strong momentum to drive them.

"E3 will return in 2023 with a reinvigorated showcase that celebrates new and exciting videogames and industry innovations," the organization said in an email sent to PC Gamer.

It's planning to return to Los Angeles for the show, but said there will be a digital component as well.
