Arianz, a cancer survivor, said in a statement that his shock decision to retire had nothing to do with his health.

 He informed his coaching staff and players of the move Wednesday night after attending the annual N.F.L. Session in Palm Beach, Florida

Arians, 69, is a two-time NFL Coach of the Year and holds an 80-48-1 record during five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and three seasons with the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers won the 2020 Super Bowl title, Arians’ second in Tampa.
